Future of Careers in AgTech
Agriculture is being transformed by technology in computing, biology, robotics and many other areas. Consequently, workers and businesses need to adapt to the current trends and prepare for future innovations. This session will explore the expanding diversification and specialization of careers in this rapidly evolving sector.
Presenter: Garry Fehr, PhD
Dr. Garry Fehr is the Director of the Agriculture Centre of Excellence at the University of the Fraser Valley and an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and the Environment. Garry was trained as a Geographer at the University of Guelph, and he has spent the last 14 years working with farmers, communities and governments on issues of food security, rural sustainability and community development.
His current portfolio of responsibilities includes the facilitation of research on new agriculture technologies and food systems that enhance economic, social and environmental resilience. Garry’s teaching and research activities have taken him around the World, including India, Mexico, Kenya, China, and Paraguay.
